The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has started the process of crediting 8.25% interest to Provident Fund (PF) accounts for the financial year 2025-26.

EPFO has issued instructions to its regional offices to begin transferring the interest amount.

With the organisation’s recently upgraded system, members are expected to receive their PF interest much faster than in previous years.

EPFO Begins PF Interest Credit Process

According to a recent EPFO circular, the Central Government has approved an 8.25% interest rate under Section 60(1) of the EPF Scheme for FY 2025-26.

After receiving this approval, EPFO has directed all regional offices to start depositing the interest amount into members’ PF accounts.

The Central Board of Trustees (CBT) had approved the 8.25% interest rate in March.

The proposal was then sent to the Ministry of Finance, which gave its final approval in June.

This is also the third consecutive year that EPFO has maintained the PF interest rate at 8.25%.

New System Upgrade to Speed Up Payments

EPFO has recently completed a major database integration and software upgrade.

Earlier, it often took one to two months for interest to be credited to all members’ accounts.

With the upgraded system, the transfer process is expected to be much faster, allowing millions of subscribers to receive their interest without long delays.

How to Check Your EPF Balance

Once the interest is credited, members can check their PF balance through several official methods.

What This Means for EPFO Members

The start of the interest credit process is a major relief for millions of EPFO subscribers who have been waiting for the annual interest amount.

With the upgraded EPFO system and government approval already in place, members can expect the 8.25% interest to be credited more quickly than in previous years, making it easier to access updated PF balances.
