The annual income limit has been raised from Rs 32,000 to Rs 1.2 lakh.

The revised income limit applies to eligible beneficiaries under the state’s social security pension schemes and is aimed at ensuring that more financially weaker people remain eligible for benefits.

According to the Karnataka government, the annual income ceiling for beneficiaries has been increased from Rs 32,000 to Rs 1,20,000.

The revised limit will benefit eligible senior citizens, widows and persons with disabilities covered under the state’s social security pension schemes.

Who will get the benefit?

The increase in the income limit does not mean that everyone earning up to Rs 1.2 lakh annually will automatically qualify for a pension.

Beneficiaries must continue to satisfy all other eligibility conditions of the scheme and complete the required government verification process before receiving benefits.

What has changed?

Earlier, beneficiaries with an annual income above Rs 32,000 were not eligible for the pension.

The government said this income limit had remained unchanged for a long time, causing many financially weak people to lose eligibility despite limited earnings.

With the revised rule, eligible beneficiaries whose annual income is above Rs 32,000 but up to Rs 1.2 lakh will no longer lose their pension solely because of the higher income limit.
