Many employees have PF deducted from their salary every month. But what about those who were eligible for EPF but were never enrolled in the system?

There is now a major opportunity for such employees.

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched the Employees Enrolment Campaign (EEC) 2026 to bring eligible employees who were left out of the EPF system under its coverage.

EPFO Campaign Will Run Until October 31

Under this campaign, employers can correct old records and enroll eligible employees who should have been covered by EPF.

But there is an important deadline.

The Employees Enrolment Campaign 2026 will continue only until October 31, 2026. Employees who may qualify should therefore check their eligibility before the campaign ends.

Big Relief on Old PF Contributions

One of the biggest benefits of this campaign is related to past PF contributions.

If PF was not deducted from an eligible employee’s salary earlier, the employee will not have to pay the old employee contribution from their own pocket under the campaign, subject to the scheme’s conditions.

However, this does not mean that every old PF liability will automatically be cancelled. The applicable terms and conditions will determine the benefit.

Who Can Get the Benefit?

The campaign is mainly aimed at employees who were eligible for EPF but were left out.

An employee may qualify if:

They were eligible for EPF between April 1, 2009, and March 31, 2026.

They were eligible for EPF during the specified period but were not enrolled.

They are still working for the same employer when the employer enrolls them under the campaign.

Who Cannot Apply Under This Campaign?

Not every employee can take advantage of the scheme.

The campaign does not apply to:

Employees who no longer work for the company.

People who were not eligible for EPF during the specified period.

Employees who are already enrolled in EPF.

Employees who do not meet the conditions prescribed under the campaign.

The main purpose is to cover eligible employees who were previously left out of the EPF system.

Why This Campaign Could Be Important for Employees

Being covered under EPF can provide employees with important long-term benefits, including provident fund, pension and insurance-related benefits, subject to the applicable rules.

For employees who were eligible but missed out on EPF coverage, the EEC 2026 could provide an opportunity to correct their records without having to personally bear the earlier employee contribution, if they meet the prescribed conditions.

With the campaign deadline set for October 31, 2026, eligible employees should speak to their employer and check whether they can be enrolled under the scheme.
