If you have any important bank-related work next week, it’s a good idea to check the holiday calendar first.
According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), bank branches will remain closed on three days between July 20 and July 26, 2026, due to a regional festival and regular weekly holidays.
While physical branches will be closed on certain days, customers can continue using online banking services without any interruption.
Bank Holiday List for July 20 to July 26
Here’s when bank branches will remain closed next week:
July 22 (Wednesday): Banks in Agartala will remain closed for Kharchi Puja.
July 25 (Saturday): Banks across India will remain closed due to the fourth Saturday holiday.
July 26 (Sunday): Banks nationwide will remain closed for the regular weekly holiday.
These holidays apply to branches of SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank, and other banks, depending on the location.
When Will Banks Remain Open?
Bank branches are expected to function normally in most parts of the country on the following days:
July 20 (Monday)
July 21 (Tuesday)
July 23 (Thursday)
July 24 (Friday)
However, customers in Agartala should complete their branch-related work before July 22, as banks will remain closed there due to the local holiday.
Are Banks Open Today?
If you’re planning to visit a bank on July 18, 2026, branches in most parts of India are open as usual.
However, banks in Gangtok are closed today on the occasion of Drukpa Tshe-zi.
RBI’s Three Types of Bank Holidays
The RBI classifies bank holidays into three categories:
Negotiable Instruments Act Holidays: These affect branch banking services, including cheque clearing, at the national or state level.
RTGS Holidays: On these days, RTGS transactions cannot be processed through physical bank branches.
Bank Closing of Accounts: This holiday is usually observed on April 1 for annual account closing.
Will Online Banking Work During the Holidays?
Yes. Even when bank branches are closed, digital banking services continue to operate normally.
Customers can use UPI, NEFT, RTGS, internet banking, mobile banking, and ATMs to transfer money, pay bills, recharge services, and make online purchases at any time.
Most digital transactions are processed within minutes, even on Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays, and other bank holidays.
However, services that require a visit to a bank branch, such as certain RTGS requests submitted physically or other in-person banking work, will only be processed once branches reopen.
