India’s largest airline has announced a temporary suspension of flights to six international destinations due to lower passenger demand and rising operating costs.
The affected routes include popular tourist destinations across Asia, including Hong Kong and Shanghai in China.
Which Routes Will Be Suspended?
According to IndiGo, flights to the following destinations will be temporarily suspended from July 1, 2026:
Langkawi, Malaysia
Krabi, Thailand
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Hong Kong, China
Shanghai, China
In addition, flights to Siem Reap in Cambodia will remain suspended from July 3 to September 30, 2026.
Why Has IndiGo Taken This Decision?
In its official statement, IndiGo said that passenger traffic on these routes is usually lower between July and September. At the same time, international fuel prices, operating expenses, and other business costs have increased significantly.
The airline said the temporary suspension will help balance costs and demand while allowing it to use its resources more efficiently.
Flights May Return From October
The airline has clarified that this is not a permanent shutdown. IndiGo plans to reopen bookings for all these routes from October 1, 2026, if market conditions improve.
