The central government has taken an important step keeping in mind the upcoming festivals.
On the occasion of Ganpati in Maharashtra and Onam in Kerala, the government will release salary, wages, and advance pension for August 2025 in advance.
This decision is aimed at giving financial convenience to employees, pensioners, and industrial workers so that they can celebrate the festivals with their families without any financial burden.
Salary Payment in Maharashtra (Ganpati Festival)
For Maharashtra, the government has announced that the August 2025 salary of all central government employees (including employees of Defence, Posts, and Telecommunications) will be paid in advance on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
This has been decided because the Ganpati festival (Ganesh Chaturthi) will be celebrated on August 27, 2025.
In its circular dated August 22, 2025, the Finance Ministry clearly mentioned:
“In view of the Ganpati festival, the salary for the month of August 2025 of all Central Government employees of Maharashtra may be drawn
and distributed by Central Government Offices (including Defence, Post and Telecom) on August 26, 2025 (Tuesday).”
Salary Payment in Kerala (Onam Festival)
For Kerala, the central government has decided to release the August 2025 salary, wages, and pension of all central employees, including those in Defence, Posts,
and Telecommunications, in advance on Monday, August 25, 2025.
The Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar shows that Onam will be celebrated on September 4 and 5, 2025. Therefore, the salary is being released in advance.
According to an office memorandum dated August 21, 2025, the Finance Ministry stated:
“In view of the ‘Onam’ festival, the salary/wages/pension of all Central Government employees in Kerala may be drawn
and disbursed by Central Government Offices (including Defence, Post and Telecom) on August 25, 2025 (Monday).”
The circular also clarified that the wages of industrial employees in Kerala will also be paid in advance on the same date.
