The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has introduced a new rule to encourage the use of renewable energy.
From now on, it is mandatory to install solar panels for getting approval on the map of plots of 100 square meters or more. This decision follows a similar move by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA)
and has been added to GDA’s building bylaws. The main goal is to promote green energy and raise awareness about protecting the environment.
No Completion Certificate Without Solar Panels
Under the new rule, if solar panels are not installed on a house, the GDA will not issue a completion certificate. Without this certificate, the house will be considered illegal, and action can be taken against the owner.
This proposal was passed in a recent GDA board meeting. Solar panels will not only help save on electricity bills but also play a crucial role in reducing environmental pollution.
Government Subsidy Makes Solar Panels Affordable
To make it easier for people to install solar systems, the government is offering a subsidy. The cost of installing a one-kilowatt solar system is between Rs 54,000 to Rs 80,000, but the government provides a discount of 30-40%.
As part of the PM Suryadhar Yojana, there is a target to install solar panels in 2 lakh houses, with Ghaziabad receiving a target of 10,000 houses. This subsidy makes installing solar panels more affordable for homeowners.
