In a major convenience for salaried employees across India, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is launching a new WhatsApp-based service to simplify access to PF-related information.
With this new system, subscribers will no longer need to visit offices or struggle with complex online portals.
PF updates and account details will now be available directly on WhatsApp.
How EPFO’s WhatsApp Service Will Work
EPFO’s new service is designed to be extremely simple and user-friendly.
To start using it, members only need to send a “Hello” message to the official verified EPFO WhatsApp number (marked with a green tick).
This will begin the conversation and connect users to the service.
Once activated, users will be able to receive:
PF account updates
Status notifications
Important alerts on their registered mobile number
The service will also support regional languages, making it easier for users across different states to interact in their preferred language.
Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the initiative has been introduced keeping in mind the large number of WhatsApp users in India.
Focus on Faster Issue Resolution
In the initial phase, the WhatsApp service will help resolve issues under the PMVBRY scheme.
Many subscribers currently face problems such as:
Aadhaar verification errors using face authentication
Delay in Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) activation
With the new system, users will be able to get quicker solutions to these problems directly through WhatsApp, reducing the need for physical visits or long waiting times.
EPFO Launches Mission Mode Campaign for Pending Cases
Along with the WhatsApp initiative, EPFO is also working on clearing long-pending legal and administrative cases.
A special “mission mode” campaign has been launched to speed up case resolution across different legal forums.
Additionally, under the “Nidhi Aapke Paas” initiative, EPFO is actively tracking pending disputes and reaching out to citizens to resolve them faster.
These include cases related to delayed PF deposits and interest payments by employers.
Zone-wise nodal officers have also been appointed to coordinate with tribunals and stakeholders for quicker action.
A Step Towards Digital Convenience
Many banks in India already offer WhatsApp-based services like balance checks and statement downloads.
Now, EPFO is following the same digital path to make PF services more accessible.
With this move, crores of employees are expected to benefit from faster, simpler, and more convenient access to their provident fund information.
