Bank of Baroda has issued an urgent alert for its customers, especially senior citizens and pensioners.
The bank has noticed a rise in digital fraud cases involving fake “Pensioner Card” offers circulating on WhatsApp, social media, and other messaging platforms.
These messages try to trick people into sharing personal and banking details.
The bank clarified that it has not launched any new Pensioner Card online.
Customers have been warned to treat such offers as fake and avoid clicking on suspicious links or sharing sensitive information like OTPs, PINs, Aadhaar numbers, or bank account details.
Common Tricks Used by Scammers
According to Bank of Baroda, fraudsters often use these tactics:
Sending fake Pensioner Cards to create panic or urgency.
Asking for OTPs, PINs, CVV, Aadhaar, PAN, or bank information.
Sharing suspicious links claiming “pension update” or “verification.”
Posing as bank officials or government representatives to gain trust.
The bank stressed that it never asks for confidential information via phone, WhatsApp, or SMS.
How to Stay Safe from Cyber Scams
Bank of Baroda also shared tips for protecting yourself:
Avoid clicking on unknown or suspicious links.
Never share OTPs, PINs, or passwords with anyone.
Do not install apps, especially screen-sharing apps, based on someone else’s advice.
Verify messages with family members or your bank branch before taking any action.
Customers are advised to ignore suspicious calls or messages.
Senior citizens and pensioners should immediately contact their nearest branch or the official customer care number if they notice anything suspicious.
