The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announces a list of bank holidays each month. For December 2024, there are 17 bank holidays in total.
These include weekly holidays, second and fourth Saturdays, and various festivals. The RBI has posted this list on its official website.
Weekly Holidays and Major Festival Closures
December has five Sundays, and there will also be holidays on two Saturdays, giving banks a total of 7 weekly holidays in the month.
Additionally, banks will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Eve in many states. Some state-specific holidays include St. Francis Xavier’s Feast, Goa Liberation Day, and others.

31 December (Tuesday): Banks closed in Mizoram and Sikkim for New Year’s Eve/Losong/Namsong.
Banking Services During Holidays
Even when banks are closed, you can still perform transactions using digital banking services. These include UPI, IMPS, net banking, and ATMs.
Online services remain active, so you can make payments and check account details 24/7. If you face any issues, you can contact your bank’s helpline.

Although banks will be closed on these holidays, customers can still manage their finances using digital banking services.
