The Yogi Adityanath government has announced a major relief for people living in rural Uttar Pradesh.
Villagers will no longer have to travel to nearby towns or cities for Aadhaar-related work.
The Panchayati Raj Department has started providing Aadhaar enrollment and update services directly at gram panchayats.
People can now apply for a new Aadhaar card or update details such as their name, address, mobile number, and biometric information closer to home.
So far, this service has been launched in 110 gram panchayats across six districts, and more than 75,000 Aadhaar-related services have already been delivered.
Aadhaar Centres to Be Set Up Across All Villages
According to Panchayati Raj Director Amit Kumar Singh, the state government plans to expand this facility to all 57,694 gram panchayats in Uttar Pradesh in a phased manner.
In the first phase, Aadhaar centres will be opened in 5,000 gram panchayats.
The move is expected to save villagers both time and travel expenses.
At the same time, it will also create a new source of income for gram panchayats by offering digital services locally.
Panchayat Assistants Being Trained as Aadhaar Operators
To speed up the rollout, Panchayat Assistants are being trained to work as Aadhaar operators.
More than 1,200 Panchayat Assistants have already completed the initial training, while training for the remaining staff is still underway.
At present, operator IDs for 179 Panchayat Assistants have been activated, and 157 Aadhaar machines are now ready for use.
This is helping expand Aadhaar services quickly at the village level.
Gram Panchayats to Become Digital Service Centres
The state government says this initiative is not limited to Aadhaar services.
It is part of a larger plan to transform gram panchayats into digital citizen service centres.
In the coming years, villagers are expected to get access to more government services without leaving their villages.
The initiative will also strengthen the financial independence of gram panchayats while promoting digital empowerment across rural Uttar Pradesh.
Officials say Aadhaar services are just the beginning, and the benefits of this digital transformation will gradually reach every village in the state.
