If you need to deposit money, clear a cheque, get a demand draft, or complete any important banking work, it is a good idea to plan ahead.
Banks in some states may remain closed for three consecutive days this weekend due to Muharram, the fourth Saturday, and Sunday.
Banks Open Until June 25
Public and private banks across India will operate normally from June 22 to June 25. Customers can visit branches and use banking services as usual during these days.
Three-Day Bank Closure in Some States
According to the RBI holiday calendar, banks in several states and cities will remain closed on June 26 due to Muharram. However, this is not a nationwide holiday, so the closure will depend on your location.
June 27 is the fourth Saturday of the month, when banks across the country remain closed. This is followed by the regular Sunday holiday on June 28.
As a result, customers in states where banks are closed for Muharram may face a three-day branch closure from June 26 to June 28.
Bank Holidays in July
Banks will also observe several regional holidays in July due to local festivals and events.
July 6: Banks closed in Aizawl for MHIP Day
July 9: Holiday in Shillong
July 16: Banks closed in Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, and Imphal for local festivals such as Rath Yatra, Kang, and Harela
July 17: Holiday in Shillong
July 22: Banks closed in Agartala for Kharchi Puja
Apart from these regional holidays, banks will remain closed nationwide on all Sundays and on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
Online Banking Services Will Continue
Even when bank branches are closed, digital banking services will remain available.
Customers can continue using net banking, mobile banking, UPI, and ATM services without interruption.
Payments and money transfers through apps such as Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm will also work normally. Cash withdrawals and other ATM services will remain available as usual.
Customers are advised to complete any branch-related work before the holiday period to avoid inconvenience.
