In the last week of June 2026, banks in many parts of the country will remain closed for four consecutive days due to Muharram and the regular weekend holidays.
According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday calendar, bank branches will not operate on several dates between June 25 and June 28.
Customers planning to visit a bank branch should check the holiday schedule in advance to avoid inconvenience.
Why Will Banks Be Closed for Four Days?
The four-day closure is due to a combination of festival and weekend holidays.
June 25: Banks will remain closed in Vijayawada on the occasion of Muharram.
June 26: Banks in several major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Kanpur, Patna, Bhopal, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, will remain closed due to Muharram.
June 27: Banks across the country will be closed as it is the fourth Saturday of the month.
June 28: Banks will remain closed nationwide due to the weekly Sunday holiday.
People who need to deposit money, update documents, submit applications, or complete other branch-related tasks should plan accordingly.
Additional Bank Holidays at the End of June
Apart from these four days, some regional holidays are also scheduled at the end of the month.
June 29: Banks in Shimla will remain closed on the occasion of Saint Guru Kabir Jayanti.
June 30: Banks in Aizawl will remain closed due to the regional holiday known as “Remna Ni.”
These holidays will affect only specific regions, while banks in other parts of the country will continue normal operations.
Online Banking Services Will Remain Available
Even though bank branches will be closed, customers can continue using digital banking services without interruption.
Services such as UPI, mobile banking, internet banking, and online fund transfers will remain operational throughout the holiday period.
ATM services will also be available for cash withdrawals and other basic transactions.
However, customers should keep in mind that banks occasionally carry out server maintenance.
If any such maintenance is planned, banks usually inform customers in advance.
