The **Madhya Pradesh government has announced a 3 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state employees just before the festival of Holi.
With this increase, the DA has now reached 58 percent.
The decision will benefit thousands of government employees and pensioners across the state.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who said the revised DA will be included in the April 2026 salary, which will be paid in May 2026.
The new rate is now equal to the DA provided by the central government.
Arrears to Be Paid in Installments
Along with the increase, the state government has also clarified how the pending payments will be cleared.
The arrears from July 2025 to March 2026 will be paid to employees in six equal installments.
These payments will start from May 2026.
This move is expected to provide financial relief to employees who have been waiting for the revised allowance.
The decision was taken during a state cabinet meeting held in Barwani as part of the government’s “Farmer Welfare Year” initiatives.
During the announcement, the Chief Minister also extended Holi greetings to the people of the state.
Pensioners Will Also Get the Benefit
The DA hike will not be limited to employees alone.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that pensioners will also receive 58 percent Dearness Allowance added to their pension for the period from January to February 2026.
He emphasized that the government is committed to supporting the welfare of employees, pensioners, and other sections of society.
Maharashtra Also Announces DA Increase
Earlier, the government of **Maharashtra also increased the Dearness Allowance of its employees by 3 percent, raising it to 58 percent.
According to **Ashish Jaiswal, Minister of State for Finance, the revised DA will be effective from July 2025.
The updated allowance will be paid in cash starting this month.
The government also announced that arrears from July 2025 to October 2025 will be paid during the Gudi Padwa festival in March 2026. A separate order will later be issued for the arrears covering November 2025 to January 2026.
Updates from Kerala and West Bengal
Meanwhile, in **Kerala, Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal has announced the formation of the 12th Pay Revision Commission in the state budget.
The commission is expected to submit its report within three months, which will help the government take timely decisions regarding employee salaries and benefits.
The budget also confirmed that all pending Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) payments for employees and pensioners will be cleared soon.
One installment will be paid with the February salary, while the remaining balance will be released with the March salary.
