Many people think that entering a slightly wrong date of birth in Aadhaar is a minor issue.
But UIDAI has made it clear that this can now become a legal problem.
Providing incorrect details, especially date of birth, is no longer treated as a simple mistake.
In serious cases, legal action and even an FIR can be filed.
This applies even to parents who knowingly enter a wrong date of birth while enrolling their children for Aadhaar.
UIDAI Issues Strong Warning
UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar has taken a firm stand on this issue.
He recently referred to a case where the Allahabad High Court ordered an FIR against a child’s guardian after an incorrect date of birth was found in the Aadhaar record.
This clearly shows that deliberate mistakes or manipulation of Aadhaar data can have serious consequences.
Aadhaar details must match official records and must not be altered for personal benefit.
Strict Rules on Date of Birth Changes
UIDAI has tightened its rules for correcting dates of birth.
If a person has different dates of birth in multiple documents, one of them will be treated as incorrect.
Those who have already changed their date of birth once must now submit an affidavit stating that the earlier correction was only a clerical or technical error.
A second correction will not be allowed under any circumstances.
UIDAI has also warned that entering a wrong date of birth for children to gain benefits like school admission or government schemes is a direct violation of the law.
Aadhaar Issued Only After Field Verification
Due to concerns over fake identities and illegal immigration, UIDAI has made Aadhaar issuance more strict.
Aadhaar is now being issued only after proper field verification by district authorities.
Many adult applicants include NRIs and OCI cardholders.
UIDAI has once again clarified that Aadhaar is not proof of citizenship, but all information provided must be accurate and verifiable.
Kerala Gets Its First New Model Aadhaar Seva Kendra
Amid these changes, UIDAI recently opened Kerala’s first new model Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Ernakulam.
The center has modern facilities and is designed to improve citizen services.
UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar attended the inauguration.
He also interacted with staff and visitors, highlighting UIDAI’s focus on transparent, accessible, and efficient Aadhaar services.
473 Aadhaar Seva Kendras Planned Across India
UIDAI has announced a major expansion plan.
By September 2026, 473 Aadhaar Seva Kendras will be operational across the country.
In Kerala alone, 13 new centers will open in each district.
Currently, only 88 such centers are functioning nationwide.
Many people have to travel outside their districts for Aadhaar services, especially those above 18 years of age.
The new centers will offer Aadhaar enrollment, updates, biometric services, grievance support, and application tracking under one roof.
UIDAI is also working with Google to help people easily find Aadhaar service centers on Google Maps.
