SBI bank strike alert has been issued ahead of the three-day nationwide strike scheduled from September 28 to 30, 2026.
State Bank of India has advised customers to complete important branch-related work in advance to avoid possible disruption.
The United Forum of Bank Unions has called the strike for September 28, 29 and 30. Since September 26 and 27 are Saturday and Sunday, respectively, customers could face limited normal branch access for five consecutive days.

SBI has advised customers to finish transactions and other work that requires branch visits or employee assistance before the strike.
Services involving physical documents, certain cheque-related processes and other branch-dependent activities could face delays if employee participation affects branch operations.
Customers who have pending documentation, account-related work or other important branch transactions should plan them before the strike period.
The latest advisory is intended to help customers avoid inconvenience during the proposed three-day stoppage.
Which Banking Services Can Customers Use?
SBI has advised customers to use alternative banking channels for routine requirements during the strike period. ATMs and Automated Deposit
and Withdrawal Machines can be used for eligible services, while Customer Service Points may also provide selected banking facilities.
Internet banking, mobile banking, the YONO app and UPI can continue to be used for transactions that can be completed digitally.
These channels can help customers make payments, transfer money and handle other routine banking needs without visiting a branch.
Why Has the Bank Strike Been Called?
Bank unions are seeking the implementation of a five-day working week, along with changes related to pension benefits, performance-linked incentives and other employee issues.
The unions have also announced a proposed continuous strike from October 26, 2026.
The proposed September strike follows a nationwide one-day strike held on September 11. The extent of disruption to branch operations will depend on employee participation during the three-day strike.
What SBI Customers Should Do Before September 28
Customers with urgent branch-related work should complete it before the strike begins. Those who need cash can plan withdrawals in advance or use available ATMs and other eligible banking channels during the period.
Routine digital transactions can be handled through UPI, internet banking, mobile banking and YONO.
However, customers should not assume that services requiring physical documents or staff assistance will be available during the strike.
