The Indian government has expanded its e-Visa entry network to make travel easier for foreign tourists and business visitors.
As part of the latest update, 11 new international entry points have been added across the country.
The biggest highlight is that Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal has now been approved as an official e-Visa entry point.
AAI Tirupati Airport in Andhra Pradesh has also been added to the list.
More Entry Points for Foreign Visitors
Apart from these two airports, nine land ports, including Agartala, Attari Road, Gojadanga, and Moreh, have also been included in the e-Visa network.
With this expansion, India now has 88 authorized e-Visa entry points, including 37 airports, 38 seaports, and 13 land ports.
At present, citizens of 172 countries can apply for an Indian e-Visa, and nearly 78% of all Indian visas are now issued electronically.
What Does This Mean for Bhopal?
Until now, most foreign travelers visiting Madhya Pradesh had to land at major airports like Delhi, Mumbai, or Hyderabad to complete immigration before taking a connecting flight to Bhopal.
Now, international visitors with a valid Indian e-Visa can complete their immigration process directly at Raja Bhoj Airport.
This improves Bhopal’s global connectivity and strengthens its position as an emerging international travel destination.
The move also reflects the government’s focus on connecting Tier-2 cities with global tourism and business networks.
How Will Madhya Pradesh Benefit?
The decision is expected to bring several advantages to the state.
Tourism will grow: Foreign tourists can now travel more easily to popular attractions such as the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Sanchi and Bhimbetka, which could increase tourist arrivals.
Business travel becomes easier: Investors, corporate teams, and international delegates attending business events or the Global Investors Summit can now fly directly to Bhopal.
Boost to the local economy: Hotels, taxi services, tour operators, restaurants, and local handicraft businesses are likely to benefit from the increase in foreign visitors.
Less travel time: Visitors will no longer need to complete immigration at metro airports before reaching Bhopal, helping them save both time and money.
Convenience for NRIs: People from Madhya Pradesh living abroad can now bring foreign friends and relatives directly to Bhopal without the extra hassle of changing airports.
