The process of shutting down Paytm Payments Bank (PPBL) has started after the Delhi High Court’s order.
However, this does not mean the Paytm app will stop working.
Most digital payment services offered through the Paytm app will continue as usual, and users can keep making everyday transactions without major changes.
Paytm App Services Will Continue as Before
Over the years, Paytm and Paytm Payments Bank have separated many of their operations.
The current closure process will mainly affect the banking services provided by Paytm Payments Bank.
Users who make UPI payments through the Paytm app using accounts from other banks do not need to worry or make any changes.

Customers who still have money deposited with Paytm Payments Bank do not need to panic.
Customer deposits are considered safe, and pending amounts will be returned according to the official process.

They should also regularly check updates and instructions issued by the RBI and the official liquidator regarding claim settlements.
UPI Users Need to Check Their Linked Bank Account
For most Paytm users, there will be no major changes.
However, those whose UPI is still connected to an old Paytm Payments Bank account should take action.
Such users should link their UPI ID with another active bank account to continue making payments smoothly.
People who had Paytm Payments Bank-linked Fastags or wallets with pending claims will also get their issues resolved through the official settlement process.
Why Is Paytm Payments Bank Being Closed?
Paytm Payments Bank has faced regulatory action from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for several years.
In March 2022, the RBI stopped the bank from adding new customers.
Later, in 2024, restrictions were placed on accepting new deposits and offering certain banking services.
Finally, in April 2026, the bank’s license was cancelled.
Following the Delhi High Court’s order, the official closure process has now started.
During this period, the appointed liquidator will handle the bank’s assets, manage liabilities, and process customer claims.
Will Paytm Investors Be Affected?
The closure of Paytm Payments Bank is unlikely to directly impact regular stock market investors because the bank itself is not a listed company.
Paytm’s parent company, One97 Communications, had already reduced the value of its investment in Paytm Payments Bank.
As a result, experts expect limited additional impact on investors from this closure process.
For Paytm users, the key takeaway is simple: the Paytm app will continue working, but Paytm Payments Bank’s banking services will come to an end.
