New IDA Rates for Different Pay ScalesHow Much Will Your Salary Increase? What Is IDA and Why Is It Important?Revised Rates to Be Implemented Immediately

The Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), under the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, has announced revised Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA) rates.

The new IDA rates are effective from July 1, 2026, and will increase the take-home salary of eligible employees.

New IDA Rates for Different Pay Scales

The revised IDA rates vary depending on the pay scale of the employee.

2017 Pay Scale: IDA increased to 55.7%

2007 Pay Scale: IDA revised to 241.7%

1997 Pay Scale: IDA increased to 476.9%

1987 Pay Scale: IDA fixed at ₹18,298, based on the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) average level of 9,854

These revised rates will be applicable from July 1, 2026.

How Much Will Your Salary Increase?

The increase in IDA will directly boost the monthly salary of eligible CPSE employees. However, the actual increase will depend on your basic pay and the pay scale you fall under.

For example, if an employee under the 2017 pay scale has a basic salary of ₹50,000, the new IDA at 55.7% will be ₹27,850. Employees with different pay scales and basic salaries will receive different amounts.

What Is IDA and Why Is It Important?

Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA) is a part of the salary paid to CPSE employees to help offset the impact of inflation. It is revised at regular intervals based on changes in the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI).

Unlike central government employees, who receive Dearness Allowance (DA), employees of Central Public Sector Enterprises receive Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA) under a separate pay structure.

Revised Rates to Be Implemented Immediately

The Department of Public Enterprises has instructed all administrative ministries and departments to implement the revised IDA rates in the CPSEs under their control without delay.

Eligible employees can expect the revised allowance to be reflected in their salary as per the new rates effective July 1, 2026.
